No. A name is all you need. Birthdays are optional — add one only when you have it, and Fondly will count down and remind you. People without a birthday simply live on your People list.

When a person or date has a birthday, Fondly schedules a local notification. In Settings you can choose how far ahead to be reminded (on the day, 1 day, 3 days or a week before) and the time of day.

Dependents are the people (or pets) attached to someone — a partner, kids, a dog. Add them once and their birthdays appear on Today on their own.

Set a cadence on a person (monthly to yearly) and Fondly nudges you to reach out if it's been a while. Tap "Reached out" — or call, text or email them from their card — to reset the clock.

Turn on iCloud backup in Settings to keep your list across your devices via your own iCloud account. The lightweight backup keeps everything except photos; the optional full iCloud sync includes photos too. You can also export a complete backup file at any time.

Open them, tap the ••• menu and choose Share this person. Fondly makes a small card file you can send by AirDrop, Messages or Mail — when they tap it, Fondly opens and asks before adding. Settings also has "Send my card" so friends can add you.
